I am mulling legal options but I am not sure whether we can have IPl-IV if teams are treated like this," a furious Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra told a television channel.
Mallya, who has been one of the ardent Lalit Modi supporters, was one of the firsts to tweet making his displeasure known to one and all. "I wonder if IPL franchisees are serious stakeholders whose investments and participation are respected or are they slaves who only come and play?" Mallya tweeted.
The UB group chief also sympathised with Shilpa Shetty and wrote: "This is down right ridiculous and raises serious questions on the attitude of the BCCI towards IPL franchisees."
Bollywood actor and wife of Rajasthan Royals co-owner Kundra, Shilpa also seemed pretty upset with the decision. "This is for all those who want my reaction. Honestly too shocked to react, just disheartened... cause it's more than just a team for us! Still have not received the termination, will react after. Need to know the basis of this decision... In London now," she said in the micro-blogging website.
Shane Warne, who led the Royals to championship glory in the inaugural season of IPL, was also shocked. "It's a big shock for Rajasthan Royals, will hopefully get to the bottom of it all... Be a shame for the fans. Thanks for loyal support Royals fans, a big shock to you -- as it is to all of us to, let's keep fingers crossed common sense prevails," Warne wrote.
He further tweeted, "Such a sad news for us and our loyal fans, shattering to all!!! Three seasons ago Royals won the first ever IPL, underdogs come good what a story, it helped give credibility to the competition!!! Now look..."
The legendary spinner is also concerned about the future of the unknown domestic cricketers who got a lot of exposure due to IPL and slammed the BCCI for its decision. "The Royals gave young unknown Indian players a chance and I as captain backed them, and our coaching staff supported them we were a team. What now for the youngsters, I hope BCCI come to there senses, fingers crossed!"
