With only 27 MLAs (one JD-S MLA is believed to be in the BJP camp), it would be "childish and immature" if JD-S was to think of forming an alternative government, he said hours after B S Yeddyurappa government won the vote of confidence by a voice-vote and Governor H R Bhardwaj recommended imposition of President's Rule in the state.

Without naming Congress, which has a strength of 73 in the 224-member Assembly (reduced to 208 after the disqualification of 16 MLAs), he said "if the party, which is in a position to do so, takes the initiative in this regard, JD-S senior leaders would take a view."

Asked again if it would form a government with Congress, Kumaraswamy, the President of the state unit of JD-S and former Chief Minister, said "the question is not before us. There is no proposal".
