The decision was taken at an internal meeting for the Kolar Gold Fields constituency. Most of the rural leaders attended the meeting organised on Saturday.

New internal problem

The selection of Naveen Ram, the nephew of Muniratnam Naidu, as the new party local leader, has resulted in a familial split too.

Naidu’s brother, Krishnappa Naidu, had participated in the rally against legislator Sampangi, which was also organised on Saturday. Also, Grama Panchayat members from Kangandlahalli, Naidu’s native town too, had participated in the rally.

Naveen Ram, who was mentored by Naidu, became quite powerful after joining the BJP. He had control over several Grama Panchayats.

In addition, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who visited a village in the Kolar Gold Fields constituency recently, was accompanied by Naveen Ram throughout his tour of the region.

Anti-Sampangi

The BJP Government has undertaken works for the benefit of the public. The people of Kolar Gold Fields too had elected Sampangi wishing for a BJP rule in the area.

But Sampangi quit the BJP out of greed. The behaviour of Muniratnam Naidu, who is supporting Sampangi, too is disappointing and infuriating. Therefore, Naveen Ram has been invariably elected the new leader, said BJP leaders.

Accepting the new role of BJP leader of the rural area in the Kolar Gold Fields constituency, Naveen Ram told the Deccan Herald he would work to make the party more powerful in the region.
