Police zero in on murder suspects

“We have collected vital clues from the scene of crime including hair, footprints and fingerprints. We are also investigating on few possible angles. The crime has been committed by someone known to the victim, since there is no sign of forced entry into the house. We will arrest the culprit within a couple of days,” B N S Reddy, DCP (South East) said.

The police are also trying to find out who all had visited the victim’s house on Monday afternoon. “Neither the guard on duty nor the neighbours have seen anybody visiting her. We are also trying to trace the details of the calls made and received by the victim. The knife used in the crime is yet to be recovered,” he said.

According to him, only postmortem report can ascertain whether the victim was raped before the murder. The incident came to light on Monday evening, when the victim’s cousin tried calling her. Since her cellphone was switched off, he reached her house to find her murdered.

According to police, the victim’s throat was slit open. Her husband, Balasubramanyam, a software engineer was at office while the incident happened. The victim was an employee with TVS company and was recently married.
