President, vice-president get elected unopposed

Official Vasantha Kumar was the Election Officer. Taluk Panchayat Secretary Ranganathaswamy was the Election Assistant.

Congress agreement

Following the agreement in the Congress party, president Manjunath and vice-president Veena submitted resignation for the posts.

Pushpa Kumari was the only nominee for the post of the president that was reserved for a candidate belonging to Backward Class (A) Category and Sriramappa was the only nominee to become the vice-president, which was reserved for a Scheduled Caste candidate. Both were declared winners by the Election Officers undisputed.

President Pushpa Kumari was elected from Munganahalli while Sriramappa was elected from Kencharlahalli constituency.

The official Opposition party members in the Taluk Panchayat, belonging to JD(S), were absent during the elections.

Celebration

After the election results were declared, the supporters of the Congress Party burts crackers and led a procession to legislator Dr M C Sudhakar’s house. In the absence of the legislator, former minister Chowdareddy felicitated the newly elected president and vice-president. He advised them to make the best use of the opportunity to work for the benefit of the citizens in the taluk.

Former MLC K V Subbareddy, who spoke on the occasion, said unity is an important factor for the party as the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat are just round the corner. All representatives of the public who belong to the Congress party, including the president and the vice-president, should undertake work benefiting the citizens. This will earn both respect and support for the legislators, he suggested.
