Andhra govt orders probe

Last Updated 27 June 2009, 17:04 IST

“We are worried over the developments in the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). A senior police official of the rank of Additional DG is probing the allegations of misbehaviour and harassment against V Chamun-deswaranath. We are examining the issue and take a decision soon,” state Sports Minister K Venkata Reddy said.

The minister’s statement came in the wake of the complaint lodged with the Home Minister P Sabita Reddy by some women cricketers that Chamundeswaranath had harrased them. Acting on the complaint, the government has ordered an inquiry by senior police official M Ratan into the allegations. The ACA has relieved Chamundi as general secretary over allegations of corruption and harassment of women players.
