Speaking on the sidelines of a national meet of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said the union minister did not discuss or consult the state education ministers about the scrapping of the 10th standard board examination.

“It is important to change the education system according to the requirement. The focus should be aimed at improving the quality of education than the scrapping of examination boards across the country,” he said.

The education minister also said that a delegation from the State will meet the minister for Human Resource to discuss the issue of scrapping of state examination boards.

Commenting on other states’ approval for scrapping of the exams, Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said, “Other States may have agreed to the scrapping of state examinations. But we do not accept the idea of not conducting an examination for 10th standard students in our State. The state education department will meet the minister for Human Resource and discuss the issues of the announcement,” the minister added.
