Medical facility at doorstep

Last Updated 19 October 2010, 18:21 IST

The home care facilities launched on Tuesday include collection of samples, post operative care, rehabilitation and post delivery and new born care at no extra charge.

According to the hospital, the results of samples collected from the door step would be sent by email as well as in hard copy. “The facility would benefit senior citizens and physically challenged people, who find it difficulty to come to hospital and queue up for lab tests.

These facilities will be extended even to people, who are not our patients,” said hospital's executive director Radhakrishna. He added that in case the facilities could not be provided at the door step like X-ray, the paramedical staff would escort them to the hospital. In addition to this, specialist doctors will also pay a visit to a patient’s house if required.

The hospitals have fully equipped six vans and a team of 25 medical, nursing, physiotherapy, paramedical staff and courier boys. There are also plans to add home dialysis in the range of home care facilities in a month’s time, Radhakrishna added.

Although, the facility was provided at a smaller scale for patients within 5 km radius, it will now be available across the City, said Dr Rajeev Mathew, in charge of the services.
