On a petition filed by Venkatachalapathy and others, the HC asked the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to voluntarily return to their parent departments. The three deputed personnel are Dr M Ramegowda, M Ramakrishna and K H Raju.

The petitioners on Monday argued that the three were neither qualified nor entitled to hold the position of the DCs in the BBMP. As per the service rules at the BBMP, 50 percent of the postings of Deputy Commissioners is open only for IAS officers or KAS officers on superannuation. The rest were to be filled by officers, who are promoted from within the ranks of the BBMP Revenue Department.

Finding fault with the deputation of the three officers, who were only engineers by profession at various other departments, the HC directed the State Government to pass an order stating that the three officers be repatriated to their respective departments.

Earlier in the week, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, who heard the matter, had issued a stern warning to the officials by stating: “If you want I will pass an order asking you to be repatriated to your parent department or you yourself can return to your department. Tell me what you want me to do?”

Heeding to the directions of the HC, the three officers on Thursday gave an undertaking in writing to the court stating that they will return to their parent department.

Earlier, M Ramegowda was Deputy Director at the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, while M Ramakrishna was Project Engineer at KSFC and K H Raju was an executive Executive Engineer at the KSFC.
