Team needs to come good against India, says NZC

The NZC board met with captain Daniel Vettori, coach Mark Greatbatch, high performance director Roger Mortimer and chairman Chris Moller and said that the meeting was “comprehensive and robust”. Moller confirmed there won’t be any immediate changes in the team, rather, another chance would be given to the side to redeem themselves against the Indians.

“We believe that the team needs to be given another chance to demonstrate that they can perform. The players must take responsibility,” Moller told reporters here. “The players, especially the batsmen, need to step up and perform and prove what the team is capable of,” he added.

During its India tour, New Zealand team is scheduled to play three Tests, the first beginning on November 4, and five one-day internationals, the last on December 10.

Although the board decided it would be inappropriate to make significant structural and personnel changes ahead of the India tour, Moller announced the establishment of a cricket committee.

The committee will comprise of former international cricketers -- Stephen Boock and Rob Hart, High Court judge Sir John Hansen, and Moller, who would comprehensively review New Zealand cricket team’s management, coaching and selection structures.
