Reports said the armymen led by Captain Gaurav had laid an ambush on the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Baramulla.

The other two deceased securitymen were identified as Lance Naik Karnail Singh and Sepoy Karan Singh.

Meanwhile, the upper reaches of Kashmir witnessed the first snowfall of the season on Friday, bringing the entire Valley under the grip of a cold wave.

The areas that experienced the snowfall included the upper reaches of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Shopian,  Anantnag, Kulgam, Kupwara and Baramulla. The unscheduled snowfall and heavy rain in plain areas have led to cold wave in Kashmir.

People were forced to switch over to woolen clothes.
The Srinagar-Leh road was blocked after the snowfall. Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar route was unaffected.

Meanwhile, the body of another militant was recovered from the encounter site of Maloora village on the outskirts of Srinagar, taking the death toll to three.

Normal life in Kashmir remained paralysed on Friday due to a  separatist-sponsored general strike and curfew imposed by the state government. The government also foiled a march to Bijbehara called by separatists.
