These two taxes came up for discussion when Chief Minister Yeddyurappa asked the officials about their proposals for mopping up more revenues. In reply the officials pushed the two old proposals of levying the parking fee and impact fee.
However, the chief minister did not appear satisfied and kept the proposal for consideration. The proposal regarding the parking fee entails levying it once in lifetime during the registration of the vehicle, whereas the impact fee is with regard to the high-rising buildings.
The officials opined that the recession was affecting the State and hence some new taxes had to be imposed to generate revenue.
