High school vice-principal manhandled

Last Updated 23 October 2010, 17:53 IST

P Noronha, vice principal of Holy Cross High School, Whitefield, was on his way to Chartered Accountants’ Institute on Millers Road on Saturday as an examination in-charge. “At around 8 am, he was travelling by bus while some people claiming affiliation to several organisations stopped him and brought him back to the school from the Tin Factory on Old Madras Road. He was manhandled by them,” the police said.

According to the police, what sparked the incident was his way of teaching. “Noronha, who had joined the school in July this year, teaches English for class 10. While teaching, he might have said something which the  female students took it as an offence.

According to the parents of the girls he had misinterpreted some words. Acting on the complaint, the parents raised the issue with the school management on Saturday at 9 am. By that time, Norohna had left for Millers Road and was brought back to the school by the mob,” the police said.
