On Sunday, MLA H S Prakash performed bhoomi puja for rebuilding Bittagowdanahalli bridge and connecting roads.

The district administration and Public Works Department have decided to renovate another busy road from N R circle to Tanneeruhalla- B M road.

Now it has been a nightmarish experience for people to drive their vehicles on B M Road thanks to presence of potholes. In fact, BM road is one of the busy roads as it is the national highway on which thousands of vehicles ply daily.

The City Municipal Council of Hassan had tried to fill up potholes but the movement of heavy vehicles further worsened the condition of that road. Rupees Six crore is sanctioned for the improvement of N R Circle-Tanneruhalla Road.

The work has been divided into three works with Rs 2 crore each for three different contractors. Meanwhile, residents have urged immediate repair of road from Tanneeruhalla to bypass road as it is in a very bad shape. They want to the authorities concerned to give priority for the works under Railway bridge.

Besides, the government has released Rs 78 lakh for the development of Bittagowdanahalli bridge and  connecting roads. The PWD officials promised that the works would be completed before March, 2011.

Besides, the PWD has plans to improve 16 roads in Kasaba and Salagame hobli villages. But the citizens have demanded taking up immediate repairing of M G Road, Shankarmutt road and Outer ring road, on priority basis.
