“Attempts should be made to popularise the ancient form of medicine that has minimal side effects. Ayurveda is the system of medicine with history ageing back to a thousand years and it is the safest form of medicine that gives long lasting results,” he said and added that one of the reasons for less popularity of Ayurveda is lack of support unlike western medicine.

Allopathic medicines are manufactured purely based on marketing strategies. These medicines contain 70 to 80 per cent unwanted chemicals harmful to the health. Manufacturers play with human life. They produce the medicine for some years and suddenly stop producing, by the time the worst can be expected, he informed.

He said everyone should take an oath for safeguarding nature. It was boon on part of India as the people over here turned towards modernisation very recently. Their ignorance over modernisation was truly blessing in disguise since the damages owing to modernisation is minimal here in contrast to western countries, he opined. The scenario is changing and people are moving back towards the ancient culture, food pattern and medicine. We do find bright future for Ayurveda in coming days. Plans are on to introduce Ayurveda College in Bangalore shortly, Heggade added. As many as 501 varieties of Ayurvedic medicines were displayed on the occasion.
