The execution of the corrective measures at the Ulsoor Someshwara temple were set in motion, in the presence of Ravi Namboodiri –– the Chief Minister’s ‘chief’ astrologer from Kerala. That the Government has more than just ‘renovation’ of the temple on its mind, was reiterated when Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa visited the temple to be part of some of the rituals. There was no space for the usual paparazzi or fanfare that politicians thrive on, everytime they indulge in the inauguration of ‘development’ activities. It was a quiet arrival, participation and retreat of the leaders.

Homas performed

Some citizens in Ulsoor told Deccan Herald that the Chief Minister visited the temple in the morning to be a part of the rituals, while Shobha visited the temple in the evening.
As per the recommendations, some of the homas including ‘Sudarshana’, ‘Mrithyunjaya’, ‘Rudra’, ‘Chandi’ and ‘Vishnu’ were performed in the morning, when Yeddyurappa visited the temple. Someshwara Temple Organising Committee President V Govindaraj, confirming that both the leaders had paid a visit to the temple on Tuesday, said that Yeddyurappa had expressed his happiness over the progress in correcting the ‘wrongs’ at the temple.

One of the temple priests said that the Chief Minister attended a puja at the temple on Tuesday, received the ‘sankalpa’ and left later.

Shobha had even paid visit when the temple’s kalyani (sacred pond) was being revived. She had also interacted with the citizens who were affected by the temple’s renovation.
On Tuesday, she is also said to have distributed sarees and vermilion to women devotees.

According to Govindaraj, even this act was for the benefit of the temple.

People inside the temple said that Yeddyurappa had also visited the temple on an all-busy Rajyotsava Day.

If only that can reveal something about the seriousness of temple renovation –– the day Ravi Namboodiri is said to have reached Bangalore.
