With an aim of presenting and promoting the best of food and wines from Europe, they announced the opening of the ‘EAT (European Art of Taste) programme’ in the City recently. On till May 12, the programme aims to address the synergy between the two countries through four main products — wine, provolone cheese, pasta and olive oil. “Italy and India have a lot in common. Through this eight-day festival our objective is not to colonise the market but to collaborate. Since food is a symbol of happiness and connection, we thought what better way than to start here,” said Paolo Annavini, EAT delegation representative.

The programme will include an ‘EAT Festival’ with a menu created by Chef Paddy at the Herbs and Spices Restaurant and by Chef Manu Chandra at the Olive Beach Restaurant. There will also be a series of workshop where Chef Andrea Golino will conduct the ‘Mediterranean Kitchen - From the South With Love’. “The kitchen is an extension of a particular culture. In the workshop, I would first like to explain to the people about the Italian culture which would automatically help one understand its food better. This would then lead to the meeting point or the fusion of the Indian and an Italian dish on a single plate,” said Chef Andrea.

Another workshop would include Alok Chandra and his selection of wines that complement the recipes of Chef Paddy, who would be introducing the use of the provolone cheese and olive oil in the Indian kitchen. In addition, there will be a Saturday brunch organised in collaboration with the Wine Society of India and the Bangalore Wine Club. The programme series will also see an ‘EAT Gourmet Bazaar’, a bazaar of gourmet products and a ‘women only’ cooking show conducted by Chefs Andrea Golino and Manu Chandra.  While the food festival is open to those who visit the restaurants, the workshop is open only on pre-registration.
