Haryana MLAs to get salary; wages of Speaker, CM doubled

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today, an official release said here.

It was also decided to give a petty grant of Rs one lakh per annum to each MLA to be utilized within their respective constituencies. Each member of the 90-strong Assembly will get a salary of Rs 10,000 per month.

The salaries of the Chief Minister, ministers, the Speaker, the Leader of the Opposition, minister of state and the Deputy Speaker have been enhanced from Rs 20,000 per month to Rs 40,000 per month.

The sumptuary allowance of the Chief Minister has been doubled from Rs 10,000, that of minister, the Speaker, minister of state and the Deputy Speaker from Rs 7500 to Rs 15,000 while that of the Leader of opposition from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 and that of an MLA from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000.

The other monthly allowances of MLAs have also been increased. The office allowance has been enhanced form Rs 2500 to Rs 5000, secretarial allowance from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 and constituency allowance from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.

Daily allowance of MLAs has also been enhanced from Rs 1000 per day to Rs 1500 per day upto 15 days in a month for ministers and ministers of state. The travelling allowance of MLAs has been enhanced from Rs 12 km per day to Rs 15 per km.

The pension of ex MLAs has been enhanced from Rs 5000 per month to Rs 7500 per month.
