For, the arrival of elephants to the border area of forest does not mean good news. As many as 100 elephants have stationed themselves around forest department office of Omkara forest region and near South Kere areas. Villagers of Srikantapura, Hosapura, Kurubarahundi, Channavadayanapura, Yadavanahalli and other villages are living under constant fear of wild elephant attack.

These jumbos never returned to Bandipur forest after straying out from that forest region since last Sunday.

The farmers were scared to leave houses and work in their fields following the presence of wild elephants, in such huge numbers. Meanwhile, the forest department officials said laying of solar fencing in the border areas of forest is going on warfooting. The straying out of wild jumbos in search of food, shelter and water in human habitated areas will be considerably reduced in coming days, they assured.
