Jackson's body to be put on view

Last Updated 01 July 2009, 15:56 IST

Michael Jackson’s family is planning to put

at the site of his former fantasy playground, Neverland, on Friday, for a potentially bizarre and chaotic public farewell.

The body is to be taken in a 30-car motorcade on Thursday along the 130 miles from his home in Los Angeles to the Neverland ranch. His family intends to have a private memorial at the site at the weekend.

Jackson’s father Joe said on Tuesday he would not be buried at the site.

Neverland was set up two decades ago by Jackson as a playground for children but many of the attractions, such as a ferris wheel, railway and various amusement rides, have long since fallen into disrepair.
