Normally, maize crop will be ready for harvest during last week of October.
However, owing to the rains, the crop could not be harvested on time. In some places, farmers are struggling to dry the harvested maize and some of the corns have already started sprouting.
Maize is grown in more than 2,500 acres in Kushalnagar hobli, of which harvesting works have been completed over 60 per cent of the cultivated land. The heavy rains, which lashed on Tuesday evening has added to the problem.
