L&T-led consortium bags $764mn order to develop Oman airport

"L&T-Galfar consortium has been awarded the project by the Ministry of Transport...of Oman in the face of stiff international competition. The order has a total value of USD 746 million...L&T's scope of work will be approximately USD 500 million," the company said in a statement.

The project will be accomplished in 30 months and upon completion, the airport will have a capacity to handle 2 million passengers per annum.

The contract was bagged by the L&T construction division's part -- Buildings and Factories Operating company.

The company said it is its largest overseas order on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

It has completed major airport projects, including Delhi International Airport terminal 3, Bengaluru International Airport and Hyderabad International Airport and is currently executing development of the Mumbai International Airport.

The consortium partner Gulfar Engineering is a major company in Oman and L&T has a significant presence in Oman through L&T Oman LLC, a joint venture company of L&T and Zubaircorporation.
