The authorities are mulling over replacing the complete set of equipment used to build the fountain with new machines, Chief Executive Officer of the authority M V  Hemanth Kumar told Deccan Herald.

“When calculated the repair cost was totalled equal to the amount that was spent on installing the equipment in 1994 at the cost of Rs 24 lakh, forcing the authority to think over replacing the equipment”, Hemanth Kumar said.

Musical and Dance Fountain was the brainchild of then Chairman D Dhruvakumar. An area of  nearly one acre near amusement park, was earmarked for creating the facility. A separate room to control  the system, besides an open air theatre like set up with stairs in a circular shape was built to accommodate the audience. For those who had missed the visual treat at KRS, the fountain here presented a pleasant picture with the programme here run for nearly half-an-hour.

Stream of water forced up into the air through the pipes according to the music played, making for a picturesque view enhanced in the backdrop of decorative lights, was certainly keeping the audience hooked to their seats.

As and when the music reached heights, a stream of water standing like a rope in sync making for perfect setting, while it swirled as and when the music had fast beats.
The moment one heard of music hitting them from fountain side, those who had earlier made up their mind to spend some time at amusement park, altered their plans only to catch a glimpse of ‘dancing beauty’, such was its soaring popularity.

The fountain here assumed shape after taking a cue from Brindavan Gardens in KRS, that has the similar attraction, and a hit among the tourists. All was fine until 2008, as it developed technical snag following year.

There was a receding force in water that led to bringing the programme to an abrupt end, said chief executive officer. He reasoned that due to operating of the system only for three months in a year, the pipes began to rust. Where as in the case of KRS, they overhaul the entire system once in every six months. However, we somehow managed the fountain at the expo to run for 15 years, he claimed.

The officer said they have already contacted the firm that installed the machine. As mentioned earlier, we may go for changing the whole mechanism giving it a completely new look, resuming the fountain from next year.
