Tree falls on BMTC bus, four injured

Shajid Pasha (20) from Kalasipalya, who sustained head injuries, is recovering at Nimhans while three others were discharged after being treated as outpatients in different hospitals, said police.

The bus (route number 146) was on its way from Viveknagar to Majestic around 2.45 pm. When the bus approached the Shanthi Ganapthi temple, a tree near the temple was uprooted and fell on the bus.

Completely damaged

Most of the 15 passengers in the bus were seated in the front and central part of the bus. The rear part of the bus was completely damaged. Three passengers who were injured managed to come out, while Shajid was struck in the bus. Soon, Fire force personnel rushed to the spot and extricated him. A portion of the compound wall of Centropolis building nearby was also damaged in the incident, added the police.

Fire personnel cleared the tree and moved the bus off the road with a crane. Traffic movement was affected for nearly two hours.
