Deathly Hallows tops UK box office

The first half of the epic finale in the Harry Potter series secured the biggest three day opening total with an impressive gross beating the record held by 'Quantum of Solace' by USD 5 million, Femalefirst reported

The movie sees actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint reprise their roles of Harry, Hermione and Ron and will see them make a comeback next year as the series draws to a close.

'Due Date' slipped to number two but lagged behind 'Deathly Hallows' as it garnered 1.2 million pounds. 'Despicable Me' held onto the number three slot while sci-fi movie 'Skyline' dropped to number four.

'Jackass 3D' rounded off the top five by dropping just one place to number five. Meanwhile, 'Red' remained at sixth postion while animation movie 'Alpha and Omega' jumped to number seven. The only other new entry in the top ten came in the form of 'Guzaarish', which sees Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan back on the big screen.
'The Social Network' toppled to number nine and Mike Leigh's latest film 'Another Year' stayed at number ten.
