'Super' idea to counter piracy

The crew of Upendra-starrer Kannda film ''Super,'' slated for release shortly, has come out with a super idea to counter piracy.

It has constituted a team with the help of police to trace circulation of fake CDs and DVDs of the movie.

“We have constituted a team called ‘Super,’ which will work with the police to prevent piracy. The team of 20 members including advocates will keep a vigil in different parts of the State,” Producer of the movie Rockline Venkatesh told reporters here on Wednesday.

Producers are incurring huge losses due to piracy. Hence, stern action should be taken against those manufacturing and circulating fake CDs and DVDs, he added.

Invoke Goonda Act

Actor Upendra demanded the State government to invoke Gooda Act against those involved in such illegal activities. The Home Department has agreed to issue identity cards to those conducting operation against the menace.

Film on piracy

“I will produce a film titled ‘Piracy of Karnataka’ next year if the problem continues. It will not be released in theatres, but will be available on streets,” Upendra said sarcastically.

Akash Audio owner Madhu Bangarappa said collective effort should be made to fight against audio, vidoe piracy.

Audio company owners, producers and the film chamber have decided work out a plan to tackle the problem. Within three hours after the audo release, songs are downloaded from internet causing losses to the producers and audio companies. Complaints have been lodged with the cyber police against a few websites, he added.
