Last Updated 25 November 2010, 17:15 IST

The government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is launching internet services at the village under its Universal Services Obligation (USO) programme.

The low-cost internet facility is aimed at educating people about the internet world and the usage of computer.

“This would be more beneficial to students, youth and public in general,” BSNL Deputy Board Officer Sudarshan Pujar told the Deccan Herald.

Internet is a window to the world and another way for faster communication. “People in rural areas must not be deprived of such a facility, hence, the programme,” he added.
It can help farmers on weather and various crop-related issues. The internet centre will be operational from the BSNL premises and the facility can be availed at low cost.
