'Complete road repairs by December 10'

Coastal Development Authority Chairman Nagaraj Shetty said that the work on filling the potholes on NH 13, 48 and 234 in the district should be completed by December 10.

Speaking at a meeting of PWD, MCC, NH, NHAI, and Zilla Panchayat officials here, he said there is no shortage of funds in the district. The released funds are not being utilised effectively. The development of Major Road Development is not satisfactory. He said that he will inspect the roads in presence of the media after December 10.

NH officials said that district has 74.8 metre NH 48, of which, 54.8 metre has been damaged. The potholes on Shiradi and Ame-B C Road was not filled. It will be filled within three weeks.

There is 36.90 km NH -13 in the district, of which, potholes on 28 kms have been filled.

About 76 kms of NH-234 pass through the district. The potholes have been filled in 25 km in this stretch.

MCC officials informed that the work on 50 roads in its limit will be undertaken on priority basis.

About 52 Zilla Panchayat roads have been repaired, said ZP engineer.

PWD Superintending Engineer Balakrishna said a sum of Rs five crore has been released for the construction of foot bridges in the district. A sum of Rs 100  crore has been released for the development of road in Ghats.
