Discussions are on with the Centre for Public Policy and Management of the IIMB and the training may take off soon, said Principal Secretary of Higher Education, Madan Gopal, on Wednesday.

There are 23 State-funded universities and 2,322 colleges across the State. The State Knowledge Commission recommended the training for the vice-chancellors at the premier B-schools.

Member Secretary of the Commission, M K Sridhar, told Deccan Herald that a final decision regarding the project will be taken within a couple of weeks.

He said: “We had already discussed the issue with IIM-B. They have agreed in principle. We are now discussing the course content of the training programme.”

Orientation

The State Council for Higher Education has also proposed orientation programme for the newly appointed principals and heads of the institutions.

The heads of institutions often have various duties like applying for grant, renewal, permanent affiliation of the college and so on, within the time frame given by the university.
