Or is that the environment around us is thrusting an unassuming compulsion on us to go astray?

Adolescence is the prime stage of life of maturation between childhood and adulthood. It is the formative period of ones life; where in the character of every individual gets moulded.

What you become in life depends on and is the outcome of what you inculcate and practice in this period. It may either result in failure and agony or emerge as a cheerful and successful future. It depends on which perspective you are viewing.

Some people support the optimistic view that says that this is the golden period of life while others adhere to an opposite pessimistic view which characterizes adolescence as a period of stress and inner turmoil.

In ancient times people attached highest significance to the moral enlistment and strong character formation. They were guided and supported by the elders in every stage of life and thus this period was a golden one. Terms such as ‘depression, stress, pressure were so irrelevant and alien in the adolescent age. but now such terms are prevalent and experienced in every walk of life. These hazardous feelings and thoughts crept in when people started aping the west.

Western trend is not perilous to our culture but it depends on how much we imbibe. As it is the negative that is fast contagious, it proves derogatory. PEER PRESSURE which used to be Greek and Latin has now become a part and parcel of our heritage. Adolescence is the period where on has to be guided and supported. It is the stage where you need to develop consistency of mind remain steadfast to values and beliefs that may otherwise cause deviation in your organized life. DEPRESSION has become a familiar term among the rank and file.

Depression is just taking things for granted and surrendering oneself to failure, laziness and indolence.

It is astoundingly shocking that India also witnesses as many as 360 suicides per day out of which teens out number the others. Innumerable counseling centres have mushroomed all over the country with no significant change for the better.

Apparently, they try to establish a new trend free of principles, discipline, norms and rules that enable a systematic growth. Most gullible ones succumb to their own follies endangering the prospects of a beautiful life and career.

Indeed, we are what we make of ourselves. So lets strive to be the better enthusiastic youth…!!!!
