Indian elected as Vice-chairman of International Sugar Council

At the 38th Session of the council held here, Tanzania was elected as its Chair. India is a member of the International Sugar Organisation since 1993 which has a membership of 85 countries.India is the largest consumer of sugar in the world with its demand estimated at 23.5 million metric tonne.The Council deeply appreciated India's cooperative role as a major player in sugar sector.
