Newlywed couple among seven killed in mishap

They were married for three days

The goods tempo they were travelling in collided head on with a lorry. The mishap that took place near Kadabahalli in Nagamangala killed Mamatha (20) and her husband Shivu (30) besides injuring 12 others. A few among them are identified as Dasaiah(60), Shivanna (45), Moodalaiah (60), Ramu (40) and Ningamma (65) all five from Sundahalli village.

Mamatha and Shivu had tied the nuptial knot on December 1. Mamatha’s family members had visited the bridegroom’s house on Friday for ‘Bigara oota’.

However, the destiny decided otherwise. The newlywed couple and their relatives were killed in a freak mishap. The last rites of the couple Shivu and Mamatha were conducted in groom’s native Naraganahalli, five other bodies were brought to Channarayapatna for the lastrites. The grieving relatives and friends of the deceased visited Thimappa’s house to offer their condolences.  The wedding decorations in front of the house were still there at Thimmappa’s house.  The mortal remains of goods tempo driver Ramu, who was also laid to rest at his native Shravanabelagola town.

Youth dies in mishap

In another accident near APMC Yard in Channarayapatna, a farmer was killed on the spot, when a truck mowed him while taking reverse. Muneer Ahmed (28) a native of Hale Kote Hobli of Holenarasipur taluk is the deceased .

The deceased was unloading the coconut brought in a Tata Mobile vehicle, when the tragedy struck. Police have booked a case.
