Geelani rules out talks with Centre

He was reacting to the plea of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had said separatists must now talk to the Centre since they are already holding dialogue with the visiting parliamentary delegation.

The chief minister had made the plea on Sunday while addressing a public meeting on the 105th birth anniversary of his grandfather and former chief minister Sheikh Abdullah.

“We will enter into a dialogue process only after the government of India accepts Kashmir as a disputed issue. Till then no talks are possible. However, we will continue our efforts to convey our views to the Indian people through all possible means. There is nothing wrong meeting Indian delegations,” Geelani said.

An 11-member delegation of parliamentarians and civil society members led by Ram Vilas Paswan met the hardline leader at his residence two days ago. The delegation also held talks with other separatist leaders like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Shabir Shah.
