Three sisters burnt alive in Jharkhand

Last Updated 07 December 2010, 17:22 IST

The charred bodies of Usha (30), Rima (26) and Rina (24), daughters of Shiv Shankar Singh, caretaker of the PHD guest house, were found in the room in which they were sleeping, Tuesday morning.

PHD engineer Rajak, who was put up in the guest house, found smoke billowing from the room and raised an alarm.

According to police, Rima’s husband, Sonu Kumar, is the prime suspect as they recovered his plastic bag, Kalka Mail train ticket and other articles from the spot. Sonu, who hails from Rajwadih in Palamu district, works in a hotel.

Family sources said Sonu was in love with his sister-in-law Rina and was infuriated as her marriage had been fixed for February 7. This allegedly drove him to commit the crime.

The police said Sonu poured inflammable material through the window into the room and set it on fire before locking it from outside.
