Addressing a press conference,  he said the Sarvodaya party will contest atleast one seat from zilla panchayat and about five to six seats for the taluk panchayats. The party candidates would be fielded from Mysore, Bangalore rural, Tumkur, Chamarajanagar, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bidar, Bagalkot, Haveri, Shimoga and Raichur. Altogether, the party would contest from 19 districts, he said.

The party would sensitise rural voters on corruption and irregularities in implementation of various schemes of the government. Hundreds of crores are released into the state budget. But, effective utilisation of these funds is hampered due to massive corruption.
He accused the state government of treating voters in rural areas as mere ‘commodities’.
He said the Raitha Sangha and the Sarvodaya party have convened meeting of farmers from across the region in Bangalore on Friday.

The meeting will be held near Gandhi Bhavan. It will discuss various issues concerning the farmers like support price for paddy, sugarcane and the upcoming panchayat elections.

Supporting the Lokayukta for his actions against corrupt persons, Nagendra said the Lokayukta should not be deterred by the comments made by politicians, and continue with his work.

“The politicians ruling the government are humiliating and insulting Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde through their words. This is unacceptable. The Lokayukta must continue his prompt actions,” he said.

Nagendra said the Raitha Sangha would lead a delegation to the Prime Minister demanding his immediate intervention to stabilise the price of paddy and sugarcane.

Farmers are suffering daily loss due to fall in prices of paddy and the Government’s decision to ban export of rice. The delegation would also meet the Agriculture Minister and the Commerce Minister.
