The pasha of mushy, homily-driven double entendre romance is back wooing dame luck. Known for yesteryear hits like Suvarillatha Chittirangal, Mouna Geethangal, Chinna Veedu and Mundhanai Mudichu, actor-director Bhagyaraj this time tries to prop up son Santhanu’s silver screen prospects after daughter Parijatham. The dad’s fond desire to see his one-film-old son scale newer marquee summit shows in every frame of Siddhu+2 First Attempt. But this renders the ambitious plan of an otherwise past master infructuous and infuriating.

Of course, Bhagyaraj’s tale of a young lad (driven to take his life) and lass, on the run from home following repeated failures in their Plus 2 exams following parental censure, is quite familiar.

How the two fall in love, are separated before final reunion, forms the story of Siddhu+2... However, from the ‘king of screenplay’ it’s a big let down. Shot on exotic locales in Chennai, Palani and Hyderabad besides beaches of Bangkok the film tries to worm its way into viewers’ heart.

But braveheart Bhagyaraj miserably fails; cliched dialogues, familiar cupid play, crony comedy, only add to the (mis)adventure that Siddhu+2... is. A disappointing Bhagyaraj fare.
