<p>Most of the political parties in the district want both - the Zilla and the Taluk Panchayat - elections to be held together.<br /><br />District Congress President Dr Sharanprakash Patil told Deccan Herald that a sum of <br />Rs 1.50 crore was being spent on the elections in the district. Conducting the two elections separately would mean unnecessary burden on the public exchequer. All development activities would come to a standstill twice with the enforcement of election code of conduct, if the elections were held separately. It was better if both the elections were held together, he said.<br /><br />District BJP President Rajkumar Telkur and State JD(S) General Secretary Mukram Khan have also written to the Election Commission in this regard.</p>
