Simultaneous elections to TP, ZP sought

Most of the political parties in the district want both - the Zilla and the Taluk Panchayat - elections to be held together.

District Congress President Dr Sharanprakash Patil told Deccan Herald that a sum of
Rs 1.50 crore was being spent on the elections in the district. Conducting the two elections separately would mean unnecessary burden on the public exchequer. All development activities would come to a standstill twice with the enforcement of election code of conduct, if the elections were held separately. It was better if both the elections were held together, he said.

District BJP President Rajkumar Telkur and State JD(S) General Secretary Mukram Khan have also written to the Election Commission in this regard.
