In a statement, Kusuma President G S Sharma took exception to calls for completely banning screening of children. “Since every child is unique, it becomes the duty of every school to properly assess his/her educational needs. Such freedom is the very essence of private participation in the education sector,” Sharma said. Hence, Section 8 (3) of the Right To Education Act which prohibits any screening of a child should be drastically modified, Sharma demanded.
