Authorities razed four illegal places of worship at Siddartha Layout here on Wednesday.

An earth moving machinery was used to demolish three temples and an ashwath katte in the surrounding areas of Sangeeta Corner in the locality. The operation passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents. Although, there was absolutely no resistance from the local people, the police had made elaborate security arrangements, as a precautionary measure.

The district administration has already swung into action and launched operation to raze all the illegal places of worship in the city.

On Tuesday, a small temple on the Chamaraja Double Road was pulled down. The Supreme Court has set December 31 as deadline for the removal of all the illegal places of worship across the country.

The district administration along with the Mysore City Corporation have already prepared a list of all the illegal places of worships in the city and the district.

While the demolition in rural areas are being supervised by the assistant commissioners and tahsildars, it is being launched by the MCC officials.

The trust members of several temples have voluntarily removed the encroached portion soon after receipt of notices from the MCC. This has made the job easy for the MCC.
