The forthcoming Zilla Panchayath and Taluk Panchayath polls in the State will have enormous impact on state politics and it will overshadow the Congress image in the nation’s political scenario, forecasted Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the release of first list of BJP candidates contesting for ZP and TP polls in the district, he said that the Congress is losing its credibility owing to the involvement of its ministers in multiple scandals and the party’s dual standard in handling those scandals. “The Congress party’s image has been affected massively across the country and the forthcoming ZP and TP polls in Karnataka will be instrumental in proving the deteriorating condition of Congress in the nation.

Public mandate will be in favour of BJP and all expectations by the opposition parties against BJP will be upside down. NDA will bounce back into power,” he added.

Further criticisng the Congress Party, Gowda said that the Congress is undergoing internal turmoil. The contradictory statements issued by the party leaders will bring down the image of the Congress.

There are dismal chances of UPA completing its full term in the Centre. Congress has been attacked by its allies including Trinamool Congress, NCP and DMK.

The Congress party’s agenda of portraying Rahul Gandhi as the future leader suffered a huge setback in Bihar polls, he ridiculed.

Sonia Gandhi flayed

Coming down heavily on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for her recent remarks on the state BJP government, he said that the remarks shows her helplessness to handle the crisis within her government. Left parties have been unsuccessful to emerge as an alternative party to hold the power. Third Front is a lapse, he stated.

Predicting the results of ZP and TP elections in the State, he informed that of the 30 ZP constituencies in the State, the BJP will win more than 20 ZP seats in the elections.

In Udupi district, BJP will sweep nearly 18 to 20 ZP seats, out of 25 ZP constituencies, he added.

District BJP President Uday Kumar Shetty released the 1st list of BJP candidates for ZP and TP polls.

He said that the candidates have been chosen unanimously. Two candidates namely Nayana Ganesh and Upendra Nayak have been retained.

Remaining are the debutants in the fray. Three Committees namely Election Committee, Election Maintenance Committee and Election Manifesto Committee have been set up to look after the affairs of the elections, he added.
