KPCC president G Parameshwara and leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah said the exit of a leader would not matter for the Congress which was strong enough at the grassroots.
“I don’t know whether the JD(S) will be benefited by Bangarappa’s entry. But the Congress will not be affected in anyway,” Siddaramaiah said.

Reacting to media reports that many more Congress leaders would leave the party, Siddaramaiah said the reports were baseless. “There are reports that I will quit the Congress. Some politicians are spreading such false news to take mileage in the elections,” he said.

Siddaramaiah criticised the chief minister for his statement that he had not received the governor’s letters seeking his clarification on complaints of land scams, saying: “Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has no respect for constitutional functionaries.”

On BJP state president K S Eshwarappa’s statement that the Congress instigated the Governor to write to the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah said: “Eshwarappa is brainless.”
