The police also claimed to have detected 109 cases and recovered property worth Rs 1.62 crore which include 12 cars, 634 gm gold jewellery, 64 bikes, two laptops and other electronic gadgets.

In one of the cases, Ramamurthynagar police arrested Asgar (23) from Ullal, Fayaz (20) from Nelamangala, B Ravi (19) from Nayandahalli and J P Veeresh (42) from Bhadravati town and recovered jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh. Veeresh had masterminded thefts from prison, while Asgar and Ravi executed his directions, police said. The arrested men had burgled houses in Nelamangala, Denkanikota in Tamil Nadu, K P Agrahara, Madanayakanahalli and Jnanabharathi areas.

Police said Asgar and Ravi, who were in Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara, for allegedly committing crimes in Jnanabharati, Chandra Layout, Ulsoor and Kamakshipalya, met Veeresh in the jail. The latter helped the duo obtain bail. At Veeresh’s instance, the duo struck at houses, pawn brokers’ shops and looted jewellery. The stolen articles were handed over to Veeresh’s associates who sold them in Bhadravati.

In another case, Bharathinagar police arrested Mohammad Ali, a sweet stall owner, from Byrke village in Hosur taluk of Krishnagiri district and recovered a tiger pelt he was trying to sell near Coles Road bus stop. A single-barrel gun worth Rs 5.8  lakh has also been seized.

In a cheating case, Commercial Street police arrested Riyaz Pasha from Neelasandra and recovered Rs 53,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 3,000. Police said Riyaz would take money and jewellery from families celebrating marriages promising them financial assistance from the Haj committee in completing the wedding formalities.

Indiranagar police arrested Pradeep and Govindaraju from D J Halli and recovered 25 two-wheelers worth Rs 10 lakh.

They posed as vegetable vendors and identified parked two-wheelers. They came at night, used duplicate keys and rode them away.
