Selected for 'Sumavasantha' award

A release from Saligrama Jaina Mitra Mandali, Bangalore, stated that Nagarajaiah is the maiden recipient of the award. The award will be conferred on him at a programme in Bangalore on January 2, 2011. He has been already honoured with ‘Chavundaraya’ and ‘Sri Gomateshwara’  awards.

Born in Kittur in Mysore district in 1927, Nagarajaiah has served as secretary of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mysore and Hassan. He has authored and edited more than 40 books in Kannada, amongst which ‘Adipurana deekshe’ and ‘Jaina Pribhaska Ratnakosha’ are significant.

He became popular through his series of articles ‘Mareyalaagada Mahaneeyaru’ and ‘Sahityalokada Ganyaru’.
