Speaking to reporters after campaigning in villages of Mulbagal taluk on Thursday, Srinath said JD(S) was the only opponent for BJP as the Congress has lost its support base in the State.

Thin attendance

He cited thin attendance of Congress workers at a campaign meeting as a reason to substantiate his assessment. Srinath promised that the BJP would come up with a special package for drinking water, if voted to power at the panchayat raj institutions.

Addressing an election meeting in Avani and Hanumanahalli villages of Mulbagal taluk, Srinath claimed that the Karnataka has the distinction of the second state in the country to be on the path of progress under BJP government.

He accused the Opposition of tarnishing the image of the BJP government by labelling it as communal despite providing more facilities and protection to minorities.

Stories about govt

Another MLC D S Veeraiah said the Congress and JD(S) have been concocting stories against the BJP. Intelligent voters would teach a befitting lesson to such parties.

District BJP vice-president Vasudev, ZP candidate K N Jyothi, TP candidate Lakshmamma and others were present.

Poll contestants and party workers struggled hard to woo the voters on Thursday as public campaign came to end on Friday morning.
