The dead are Noorjahan Bi (30), Hasina Bi (25), Shivaraj (18), Geetha (16), and Shamim (13), all residents of Gandhi Nagar.
Eight farm labourers from Gandhi Nagar took a coracle to Bhogi, located on the other side of Koppadakere tank. The coracle capsized midway due to overweight.
Maruthi and Ghouse Saab managed to swim to the bank. Suresh, a tractor driver rescued Mumtaz Bi, said the police.
Fire personnel from Sagar fished out the bodies.
