Villagers protest as names go missing in list

The villagers threatened to boycott the polling. MLA K P Bachchegowda, Divisional Commissioner P Vasanth Kumar and Tahsildar Poornima visited the spot and pacified the protestors, before voting could resume.

‘Tough talking’
Several villagers came to the polling booth at around 10 am and found that their names were missing from the voters list.

On questioning the polling booth officer, he is reported to have talked tough to them.
The enraged voters resorted to a protest and threatened to lock-up the polling station and boycott the polls.The incident happened due to the dereliction of duty on the part of the official, said the MLA and other election officers, requesting the voters to exercise their franchise.

Circle Inspector S Shivakumar and Sub Inspector of the Rural Police Station V Munireddy were present at the polling station.
