Four of a family commit suicide

It is said that dejected over life, they took this extreme decision. The bodies were found in a field near the village. The dead have been identified as Kumar (35), son of Puttamastigowda of Ammallidoddi village of Virupaksha hobli in Channapatna taluk, his wife Shanthamma (28) and their children, Naveen (7) and Jyothi (5). They ended their lives by hanging.

Trapped by debt
An electric contractor by profession, Kumar had suffered loss in the business and had borrowed heavily. Recently, he had constructed a house to which he had raised another loan.

However, the house warming ceremony has not been celebrated yet, it is learnt. He married Shanthamma 10 years ago and the couple have two children. It is learnt that on Monday, they informed the relatives that they were going to Bireshwara Temple at Aruvinhalli but never returned.

The bodies were handed over to their relatives after the post-mortem. Halagur Police have registered a case and are investigating.
