Copra prices go up

The price ruled at Rs 6,000 per quintal in Dec 21 and the produce was traded at Rs 6,510 on Friday. The price had stabilised at Rs 4,000 per quintal for the past one year. There has been lukewarm response at the purchase centres set up by the government to purchase copra at support prices.

The surge has brought smiles back on the faces of coconut growers who were in dire straits owing to frequent pest attacks and crop failure.
