Minister assures more support to AIISH

More centres soon

Trivedi, who spent more than an hour in the campus, interacted with the the Director of AIISH, the heads of various departments of the institution, the staff members and with specially-abled children and their parents. He was highly appreciative of the works and service being carried out by the institute and said he would push for more expansion and upgradation of the institute in coming days.

On the occasion, Vijayalakshmi Basavaraj, Director of AIISH apprised the Minister about the proposal to make AIISH the centre of excellence kept pending for administrative approval with the Ministry. It aims to upgrade the infrastructure at the existing campus and increase the strength of the centres of AIISH from the present 12 centres to 40 centres across the ountry, she said.

In his reply, the Minister assured to pursue the matter with the Union Minister and the officials of the Ministry. The Ministry has given technical approval to the proposal which would cost the exchequer a minimum of additional ` 100 crore. Every State would require a centre of AIISH to support the special children overcome their disability. Hence, the Ministry will soon approve the opening of more centres, he added.
