While many vroomed on their bikes on the main roads such as D Devaraj Urs Road, Sayyaji Rao Road and others, others thronged the various pubs that offered enticing offers luring couples and stags. Hotels such as Metropole threw in the new year party by providing multi-cuisine, continental and Indian fare to satisfy the taste buds for ` 1,111. Also adding to the menu was the complimentary drink offered to party goers along with the background music scored by DJ Bobby.

Candlelight dinner
Hotel Regaalis had the stage set for candle light dinner with waterfall in the backdrop making it a romantic experience. Also adding to the aura was the tables lined up on the pool side, providing a magical celebration moment for the crowds. The dance floor was hit by couples - young and old - who danced to the tune of heart thumping music by DJ Shashidhar. With more than 200 couples crowding the hotel, people gorged on the special Mexican fare and dessert that was offered.

With music reverberating through the dance floor at Planet X, more and more joined in to shake their legs. While many wanted more, the directive by the district administration to stop serving drinks at 11.45 pm was a dampener for many. The music stopped at 12.45 leaving many dismayed, cursing the authorities concerned again for putting a ceiling on their joy.

For those who didn’t like to enjoy the crowds of the city, the highway was the place to be, as the dhabas catered to the young denizens, who apart from boozing to the hilt, could dance on  the desi floor that the earth in  the dhaba made for.Earlier when the bars opened shutters at 8 pm after the polls, many milled around the counters gathering bottles to usher in the new year with a peg or two.
